PATH Certified Riding Instructor, Equine Specialist
Jeannie grew up riding hunters in Central Florida. After graduating high school, she began exercising race horses at Hobeau Farms in Ocala under the training of Elmer Huebeckthe. When her goal of becoming a jockey was interrupted by several injuries, she returned home to study business at Valencia and continued teaching and riding for several years. Soon after her second child Jonathan was born in 1988, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and Jeannie’s interest quite naturally switched to therapeutic riding, which at the time was not very well known in this area. She knew all too well the benefits of riding given her son’s diagnosis, and with the help of her students and their parents, she immediately began teaching Jonathan to ride.
In 1998 Jeannie began volunteering at Freedom Ride where the director, learning of her background, urged her to join their team. She became a PATH certified instructor in 2000 and is presently completing her Equine Mental Health Certification for the unmounted work she does with her students. Jeannie truly enjoys working with her students whose special abilities are being discovered every time they interact with a horse. When not in the arena teaching or riding, Jeannie continues to be active in advocating for individuals with special needs and their families on a local, state and national level. Her son Jonathan continues to ride and reap the benefits that 24 years in the saddle have offered him. Jeannie brings a lifetime of knowledge and personal experience to CHAPS and we are very thankful and proud to have her on our team!

Mickey brings this passion with her to CHAPS where she states she is, “living her dream life.” When not spending her time with horses, she is a Sales Coordinator for Mentor Graphics, where she has been providing support for salesmen and customer service with a smile for 19 years.
