Reins of Resilience

Veterans Equine-Assisted Skills Group

Reins of Resilience is an equine-assisted learning group for veterans who want a steady, practical way to reset, reconnect, and strengthen day-to-day coping without pressure to over-disclose or “talk it out” the entire time. Through structured, ground-based work with horses (no riding), participants build regulation, communication, confidence, and problem-solving skills in a hands-on environment where feedback is immediate and real.

This is a 6-week program that meets once each weekend for 90 minutes, giving participants time to build skills gradually through practice, reflection, and real-time experience with horses.

This program can be experienced in a group format or adapted for individuals who would prefer private, one-on-one work. Spots are limited to keep the experience structured, supportive, and hands-on for every participant.

Designed for veterans who may be dealing with stress, hyper-vigilance, irritability, emotional shutdown, disconnection, or difficulty adjusting outside of high-alert environments, this group helps participants strengthen skills such as:

  • Calming the nervous system and reducing hyper-vigilance

  • Trusting instincts and making clearer decisions

  • Regulating stress, frustration, and overwhelm

  • Improving communication and boundaries

  • Rebuilding confidence and sense of purpose

  • Applying these skills to relationships and everyday life

Horses respond to tension, clarity, hesitation, and calm in the present moment. That makes them especially effective partners for veterans who want meaningful growth through action, not pressure. Reins of Resilience offers a grounded, respectful space to build practical resilience that lasts beyond the barn.
